Kevin Dougherty, MBA is the CEO and Founder of Global Corporate Leaders (GCL). GCL is one of the nation’s premier consulting firms in executive search for the financial services industry, recruiting field executives and home office executives for positions across North America. Mr. Dougherty has conducted many high profile and sensitive searches using a proprietary methodology based on the client needs. GCL provides consulting services focused on the areas of compensation surveys, competitive analysis, and market research. Additionally, the firm often participates in executive strategy sessions and serves as expert witnesses on behalf of the companies they represent.
Prior to founding GCL , Dougherty was First Vice President/Department Head in charge of insurance sales, service, and strategy for Michigan National Bank in Farmington Hills, Michigan. MNB was a subsidiary of National Australia Bank ($124.4 billion in assets) prior to pulling themselves out of the United States. Dougherty led an insurance strategy process that identified 42 potential insurance product offerings, quantified their potentials, defined insurance projects to implement the offerings, and worked with management in all areas of the corporation to set appropriate priorities.
Before his employment with MNB, Dougherty ran the Standard Insurance Company Michigan Group Sales and Service office. His responsibilities included the marketing of group life, short- and long-term disability, and dental products through agents, brokers, and consultants in Michigan.
And preceding service with SIC, Dougherty was a brokerage wholesaler for the Chicago office of the Paul Revere Insurance Company. He marketed disability insurance—including professional/executive personal income, key person, buy-out, business overhead, and executive compensation salary continuation products—through agents, brokers, and bank distribution.
During the completion of his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ball State University, Dougherty studied abroad at Regent’s College in London. After college, Dougherty was chosen to participate in a program sponsored by the Governor’s Office that connected local leaders with national dignitaries, government officials, business executives, and accomplished students in Japan, China, Korea and Hong Kong. Mr. Dougherty has a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Dougherty has guest lectured on such topics as “Creating Your Career Path” and “Optimal Navigation—Choosing the Path to Career Satisfaction” at a number of industry associations and universities, including Ball State and Hawaii Pacific. He has also spoken to the Association of Life Underwriters on financial modernization and insurance sold through banks and has been a platform speaker at VEBBS annual conference on the subject of employee retention. Dougherty participated in a three-person panel for the Society of Actuaries annual conference on the topic of “Economics of Distribution”.
